John Ratliff hails from Ft. Worth Texas. After obtaining his Bachelor Of Science Degree from The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, Mr. Ratliff moved to London England to work for Nelson Hurst & Marsh as a Lloyds of London Broker. He worked in the Special Risk Division specializing in large property line slips, long haul transportation, Special Event coverage and Kidnap Insurance.
Upon his return from England, Mr. Ratliff joined the Rigg Group and started a retail division specializing in mass solicitation of mobile home insurance and was involved in writing insurance for the long haul trucking accounts. The majority of the premium was financed which led to an interest in becoming involved in premium financing.
Mr. Ratliff relocated from Texas to Newport Beach California in 1995 where he started to build what would become one of California’s largest privately held premium finance companies. He is the founder of Reata Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries.
RHI owns and operates companies specializing in products and services for the commercial insurance industry field. Growth is driven by the recruitment of employees who are creative and competent and acquisition of existing firms that fold into our existing infrastructure and culture.
Mr. Ratliff serves as a board member of the Beach Cities YMCA and Vice Chairman of the California Premium Finance Association. In addition he is actively involved in various state wide insurance associations. Mr. Ratliff enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, traveling and attending sporting events.
